Class of 2009 is Praised and Challenged
On a beautiful summer evening in Fort Greene, about 1,000 members of the 126th Commencement Class of 2009 were officially recognized as Brooklyn Tech's newest graduates and members of the alumni community.

A standing room only audience in the spacious, ornate Tech auditorium applauded often as speakers praised the students' accomplishments and encouraged them to make a difference in a troubled world.

Bright Stars of '09
Marc Williams, Tech's Coordinator of Student Activities and master of ceremonies at the 2009 commencement ceremonies, proudly announced that "Brooklyn Tech is the best school on the planet and the Class of '09 is the best senior class on the planet." Those familiar with Tech and its Class of '09 will not hear traces of hyperbole in Williams’ remarks for these graduates are, indeed, among the best of the best. Want proof? $115 Million Awarded to '09 Grads
A Brooklyn Tech education continues to be worth its weight in gold. Principal Randy Asher announced that over $115 million in financial aid had been awarded to this year's graduates from a broad range of grants, scholarships and tuition assistance.

Alums Move Gridiron to Fairway
They shared a common passion for hard tackles, accurate passes and well designed running plays, but on June 20th their focus turned to straight drives, delicate approach shots and precision putts. On a rainy Saturday morning, former Tech Engineers met in Staten Island, on the manicured fairways of La Tourette Golf Course, to participate in Brooklyn Tech’s first annual Football Alumni Golf Outing.

Alumni Challenge Track Varsity
Alumni athletes who felt that they hadn't lost more than a step or two over the years had the chance to test that theory when they competed against Tech's varsity athletes at the 2009 BTHS Alumni vs. Varsity Track Meet on June 27th.

Off to the Races at Belmont
And they were off! "They" were 30 alums and family members who assembled on June 27th at Belmont Park for the Brooklyn Tech Long Island Chapter’s "First Annual Day at the Belmont Races." The event was organized by Ray Beckett '82 and Alumni Foundation CEO Matt Mandery '61.
