Tech Alum Named Rhodes Scholar

Zujaja Tauqeer

Zujaja Tauqeer ’07, a graduate of Tech’s Gateway to Medicine program, has been awarded a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship and will begin post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford in England this year. She is one of 32 American winners who were chosen from more than 1,500 applicants.[Read Full Story]

Alums Guide Students at 4th Annual Career Day
Tech Alums at Career Day

Kicking off Tech’s 4th Annual Career Day, Alumni Foundation President Achilles Perry ’58 concisely summarized the event’s significance for the more than 80 alumni who volunteered on a Saturday morning: “Tech students have an important advantage – You!”
     More than 800 current Technites also devoted their Saturday morning to soak up career advice at Career Day 2010, which was organized and sponsored by the Alumni Foundation and two student groups, the Young Entrepreneur Association (YEA) and National Honor Society (NHS).

'Ruby Engineers' Initiative Honors Pioneering Tech Women

Forty years ago, the first female students broke the gender barrier at Tech. To mark this historic milestone, approximately 75 alumnae recently joined female teachers and students in a Celebration Tea to launch the Ruby Engineers initiative. The mission of the Ruby Engineers is to “empower young women at Tech to reach their fullest potential through philanthropy, networking and mentoring.” [Read Full Story]

While rehearsing for Tech’s fall drama production “Medea Undone” one late afternoon, the young cast members were surprised when a face they recognized from TV showed up to coach them.
Zuzanna Szadkowski of “Gossip Girl” had dropped in at the invitation of her Brooklyn neighbor, the students’ teacher Emily Tuckman, who is also an actor.

2010 CIRILLO CLASSIC HONORS PAUL NEALY '73

Brooklyn Tech vs. Jefferson HS

The 2010 annual Adam J. Cirillo Classic homecoming football game honored the memory of Paul Nealy ’73, who died suddenly in 2008 at age 53. An All-City wide receiver and star baseball pitcher, he led the 1972 football Engineers to the PSAL City Championship game which they lost to Far Rockaway in  overtime. The Engineers wore #22 on their helmets in tribute to Nealy’s athletic skills, his courage and his contribution to the tradition of Tech football. [Read Full Story]

After 18 years as the representative for Connecticut’s 135th House District and nearly 40 years in politics, John Stripp '56  of Weston, CT chose not to run for reelection and formally vacated his seat this month. 


We extend our condolences to the Sylvester family for the loss of  Tajeme Sylvester '97.
