Homecoming 2009
Join the celebration when Brooklyn Tech celebrates its 85th anniversary at Homecoming 2009, April 24th and 25th.

All Tech alumni are invited to take part in the two days of festivities and walk once again through the hallways of Tech, visit the auditorium, cafeteria and gym, and catch up with former classmates and faculty. There will be special activities for the anniversary classes of 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989 and 1999.

New Alum Magazine Debuts
Coming soon to your (real) mailbox: the debut issue of Tech Times – the new annual magazine for and about Brooklyn Tech alumni. T2, for short, is a new kind of publication. It will contain feature stories about, and interviews with, some of the most fascinating, accomplished people you’d ever want to know – your fellow alums and other members of the Brooklyn Tech family.

Tech Students Excel
It’s another season of excellence at Brooklyn Tech, with students scoring victories and impressive accomplishments in a variety of fields:
  • The Science Bowl club won top honors in the New York City regional competition of the US Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl.
  • Tech’s debate team took home the award for most wins in the Lincoln-Douglas Debates competition.
  • Two Math Team members are set to compete in the national Math Olympiad.
  • The Model UN club won the city’s best school award.

First Alumni Industry Group Starts
A new initiative to further involve Brooklyn Tech alumni in benefiting today’s Tech students has been launched with the start of the Architecture Industry Group, headed by Tony Schrippa ’67, CEO and Chairman of Mancini-Duffy. The architecture group will be a model for similar alumni groups in other professions to support each of Tech’s majors.

Brooklyn Tech: A National Model
Brooklyn Tech made a strong impact at the recent annual conference of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools for Mathematics, Science and Technology, (NCSSSMST) in Washington, DC. Chemistry teachers Mary Schiff ‘00 and Jaime Skiba presented “Advanced Chemistry Lab: Beyond the AP Course” and Brooklyn Tech principal Randy Asher and Alumni Foundation CEO Matt Mandery ‘61 presented “Alumni Foundations: Sustaining Excellence at NCSSSMST Schools.”
