The Blueprint Society Introduction

BluePrintSocietyThe Blueprint Society is a select group of Tech alumni who have pledged current and future gifts as part of their overall estate and tax planning.

These gifts can provide financial benefits to the donor, but Blueprint Society members have additional reasons to participate.

They are personally committed to making sure that today’s Brooklyn Tech students receive the same excellent education that they once did. They share a love of Brooklyn Tech. They want it to continue propelling their sons and daughters of New Yorkers of modest means toward outstanding success.

As a member of the Blueprint Society, you will receive these acknowledgements:

  • A personalized certificate and welcome package.
  • A commemorative lapel pin.
  • Ongoing information and resources about current topical issues in estate planning and tax planning techniques.
  • Your name listed in Alumni Foundation publications.
  • Invitations to special events and activities of both Brooklyn Tech and the Alumni Foundation


Transfer appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares (in kind) to the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation.

  • You receive an immediate income tax deduction for the security value at time of transfer. Any embedded gains on the security will be passed directly to the Alumni Foundation and you will not get taxed on them, but will receive a charitable tax deduction for the security’s current value.
  • Your income tax deduction’s amount may exceed your cost basis for the security.


Bequeath a specific dollar amount or percentage of your assets after you’ve provided for your family, to the Alumni Foundation.

  • Your intended gift to the Brooklyn Tech Alumni Foundation will not impact your current lifestyle.
  • Your assets remain in control, all your life. You can revise your plan at any time should circumstances change.
  • There is no current limit on the estate tax deduction for a bequest.
  •  Reduce or eliminate estate taxes.

IRA or Life Insurance:

Name of the Alumni Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary

  • Reduce or eliminate estate and income taxes on assets in the account or policy. You can name Brooklyn Tech a contingent beneficiary, to receive proceeds only if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.
