Dr. Steven B. Heymsfield '62, global director for scientific affairs and obesity at Merck & Co., was named Executive Director of the Louisiana State University System’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Dr. Heymsfield is a former Director of the Human Body Composition Laboratory and Weight Control Unit and Deputy Director of the New York Obesity Research Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan.
Navy League Honors Richard Langseder ’59 The Navy League of the United States presented its 2010 Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Award for exemplary leadership in the maritime defense industry to Curtiss-Wright Executive Richard Langseder ’59. The award honors an industry leader “who has made a major contribution to our nation’s maritime strength and enhanced our national security, and who best exemplifies … leadership, statesmanship and dedication to our country.”
Mr. Langseder, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Co., is an expert in the safety of nuclear power for the Navy’s nuclear-powered warships.
Dr. Edward T. Maggio ‘64 is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Aegis Theraputics, a drug-delivery and drug-formulation technologies company. According to Dr. Maggio, “BTHS was, and I certainly hope still is, a ‘game changer’ and ‘life-changer’ for young people in the NYC area who aspire to personal accomplishment and fulfillment and positive contribution to society.”
